Creating an account is quick and easy:

1. Click the Register button in the top navigation
2. Enter your desired username, email address, and password
3. Click Register
4. Check your email for a verification link
5. Click the verification link to activate your account

Once verified, you can log in and start building your collection!

After registering, you'll receive a verification email at the address you provided.

Steps:

1. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for an email from CassetteCatalog
2. Click the verification link in the email
3. You'll be redirected to the site with your account activated

Didn't receive the email? Contact support and we'll resend it.

If you've forgotten your password:

1. Go to the login page
2. Click Forgot Password?
3. Enter your email address
4. Check your email for a password reset link
5. Click the link and enter your new password

To change your password while logged in, visit your Profile page and use the password change form.

CassetteCatalog is the ultimate database for blank cassette tape enthusiasts. Our platform allows you to:

• Browse thousands of cassette tapes from various brands
• Build and manage your personal collection
• Create wishlists of tapes you're looking for
• Value and trade tapes with other collectors
• Connect with fellow enthusiasts through Tapebook
• Track valuations and market prices

Whether you're a serious collector or just starting out, CassetteCatalog helps you organize, discover, and share your passion for analog audio.

Adding tapes to your collection is simple:

1. Browse the Catalog to find tapes
2. Use filters (brand, type, year, region) to narrow your search
3. Click on a tape to view its details
4. Click the Add to Collection button
5. The tape will appear in your Collection page

You can add as many tapes as you like - there's no limit!

To remove a tape from your collection:

1. Go to your My Collection page
2. Find the tape you want to remove
3. Click the Remove from Collection button
4. Confirm the removal

The tape will be removed instantly from your collection.

You can export your collection as a CSV file for backup or analysis:

1. Go to your My Collection page
2. Click the Export to CSV button
3. A file will download containing all your tapes with details like brand, model, type, year, and region

You can open this file in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet program.

Collection contains tapes you own - your actual physical collection.

Wishlist contains tapes you want - tapes you're looking to acquire.

Both lists help you:

• Track what you have vs. what you want
• Avoid duplicate purchases
• Share your interests with other collectors
• Appear in leaderboard rankings (Most Collected / Most Wanted)

Help build our valuation database by adding price data:

1. Go to a tape's detail page
2. Scroll to the Valuations section
3. Click Add Valuation
4. Enter the price and currency
5. Add condition notes (sealed, used, etc.)
6. Submit your valuation

Your valuation helps others understand market prices and contributes to the community database.

Valuations represent real-world prices that collectors have paid or seen for tapes.

Key points:

• Multiple valuations per tape give a better price range
• Condition affects value (sealed vs. used)
• Rare tapes typically have fewer valuations
• Valuations help you understand market trends

The system shows all submitted valuations along with an average to give you a complete picture of a tape's value.

To list a tape from your collection for sale:

1. Go to a tape's detail page
2. If the tape is in your collection, you'll see a List for Sale option
3. Enter your asking price and condition notes
4. Submit the listing

Your tape will appear in the For Sale section, and other users can make offers.

When you see a tape listed for sale:

1. View the tape's detail page
2. In the For Sale section, you'll see available listings
3. Click Make Offer on a listing
4. Enter your offer amount and message
5. The seller will receive your offer and can accept or decline

Note: All transactions happen outside the platform. Use the messaging system to arrange payment and shipping.

Tapebook is our community feed where collectors share and interact:

• Blog Posts - Write articles about your collection, favorite tapes, or restoration projects
• Photo Gallery - Share photos of your tapes, setups, or finds
• Likes & Comments - Engage with other members' content
• Latest Activity - See what the community is up to

It's a great way to connect with fellow enthusiasts and showcase your collection!

To connect with other collectors:

1. Visit the Member List page
2. Click on a user's profile to learn more about them
3. Click Add Friend on their profile
4. They'll receive a friend request notification
5. Once they accept, you're connected!

Friends can easily view each other's collections, send messages, and stay updated on activity.

Private messaging allows you to communicate with other members:

1. Go to a user's profile page
2. Click Send Message
3. Type your message and click Send

You can also access all your conversations from the Messages page in the navigation menu.

Use messages to discuss trades, ask questions about tapes, or just chat with fellow collectors!

Share your thoughts and stories with the community:

1. Go to the Tapebook feed
2. Click Write Post
3. Enter a title for your post
4. Use the rich text editor to format your content
5. Optionally add a featured image
6. Click Publish

Your post will appear in the Tapebook feed for all members to see, like, and comment on.

Engage with community content through likes and comments:

Likes:

• Click the ❤️ button on any blog post or photo
• Your like is counted and visible to others
• Click again to unlike

Comments:

• Click the comment icon or scroll to the comment section
• Type your comment and submit
• Comments appear in chronological order
• Authors get notified when you comment on their content

The leaderboard has 5 categories showcasing top tapes and collectors:

Tape Rankings:

• 💿 Most Collected - Tapes that appear most in member collections
• ⭐ Most Wanted - Tapes most frequently on wishlists

User Rankings:

• 💎 Most Valuations - Members who've contributed the most price data
• 📦 Biggest Collections - Members with the most tapes
• 📝 Most Active - Members with the most Tapebook posts

Each category shows the top 25 and your personal ranking (if applicable).

"Most Collected" counts how many users have added a specific tape to their collection.

For example: If TDK SA-X 90 appears in 142 members' collections, it gets a score of 142.

This helps you discover:

• Which tapes are most popular among collectors
• Community favorites worth checking out
• Classic or sought-after models

Similarly, "Most Wanted" counts wishlist appearances to show which tapes collectors are actively seeking.

Rankings update in real-time based on your activity:

• Valuations rank: Add more price data to tapes
• Collection rank: Add more tapes to your collection
• Activity rank: Post more blog articles and photos

Rankings are meant to celebrate active community members - not to create competition. Contribute naturally and authentically!

Add a profile picture to personalize your account:

1. Go to your Profile page
2. Click the camera icon or Upload Avatar button
3. Select an image from your device (JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP)
4. The image will be automatically resized to 200x200px
5. Your new avatar appears immediately

Your avatar is shown throughout the site - in comments, Tapebook posts, and leaderboards.

Your profile gallery lets you showcase photos:

1. Visit your Profile page
2. Scroll to the Gallery section
3. Click Add Photo to Gallery
4. Upload your image and add an optional caption
5. Submit - your photo appears in your gallery and Tapebook feed

Great for sharing tape photos, your collection setup, recent finds, or restoration projects!

Badges appear next to usernames to indicate special status:

• ⭐ VIP - Valued community members or contributors
• 🛡️ Admin - Site administrators and moderators

Badges are awarded by administrators and help identify trusted members of the community.

CassetteCatalog is actively being developed and improved!

Some features may be:

• Admin-only - Restricted to moderators
• Behind the WIP notice - Being tested or refined
